How can I change product SKU ID#’s in Shopify?

If there is a Product/SKU ID that has previously been created in Shopify and you would like to make ANY changes to the existing Product/SKU ID, please do the following:

 

DO:

  • Create a NEW PRODUCT with the updated/new name

 

DO NOT:

  • Manually change old/existing Product/SKU ID with updated/new name

 

REASON:

When a Product/SKU ID has been created in Shopify, There is a link that is created to the item in GoBolt Portal.  If you try to manually change the Product/SKU ID within Shopify, the original link does not change.  

 

Manually changing an already existing Product/SKU ID will result in incorrect inventory numbers and you will not be able to fulfill orders associated with that Product/SKU ID.

 

Please Note: Do not delete the old SKU because it will impact any outstanding fulfillments for that SKU.
